As the backbone of modern electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, DC fast charging delivers high-voltage direct current directly to the battery, unlike Level 1 or Level 2 AC charging. This enables rapid charging for long-distance travel, commercial operations, and high-turnover services such as valet EV charging.

Charging Speeds

DC fast chargers vary widely in power output:

• 50 kW – Standard early fast chargers.
• 150 kW – Common modern chargers.
• 250-350 kW – Ultra-fast chargers used by major networks.

Real-World Performance

Charging is fastest between 20%-80% state of charge. Above 80%, charging slows to protect battery health.
